What is the serial number of an OTP?

The serial number is a 10 digit unique number printed on the back of OTP. You have to register this serial number of the OTP when you logon for the first time to internet banking.

After the personal identity verification, you need to logon to HSBC internet banking for the first time. After setting up your user ID and password, you need to input the serial number and the six digit security code of the OTP.

How long does the battery of an OTP last?

The batteries on your security device can last between 5-7 years. If the battery is running low, the message "BATT" will be displayed on the screen. Please visit one of our branches when you see this message. You need to have the OTP with you if you want to replace it with a new one. Otherwise a reissue fee will be charged.

If you enter the wrong security code more than 5 times for logon and 5 times for transactions your internet banking status will be locked. If you want to unlock your status please make a phone call to the Call Center (1588-1770) having your phone banking PIN and OTP at hand or visit one of our branches.
