On 12th of November 2007, ‘Value up 2008 FX Outlook & Option Seminar’ was successfully held by HSBC for customers from key corporate enterprises at Grandballroom, Chosun Hotel. Around 200 customers attended and were satisfied with the useful information provided during the seminar.

HSBC Global Markets with experts on FX and option area from Asia-Pacific region have provided overall information on topics “Korea 2008: Outlook for the Economy and FX ? Slowdown amid Global Uncertainty” by Dr. Frederic Neumann, Chief Economist at Asia-Pacific HSBC Research, “FX Options for Korean Corporates ? Ideas for hedging, investment and more” by Ms. Selene Chong, Head of FX Commodity Structuring Asia-Pacific HSBC, and “Hedging Case Study” by Jeong Wook Jin, Head of Corporate Sales, Global Markets HSBC Korea.

Paul W Skelton, Managing Director & Head of Global Banking and Markets Korea said, “As we approach the end of the year, CFO's and general managers of the firm, who have all gathered here today, must start to prepare plans for next year, and as you do, the forecast about foreign exchange and interest rates will be critical to making the such plans. Also, the actual hedging based on these forecasts will be very important in removing the foreign exchange risks in your business. So it's not surprising that techniques of hedging have progressed in line with the ever changing business environment, particularly in the form of options” at his opening remarks.

This is one of HSBC Korea’s “Value-up” series of seminars aimed at giving Korean corporates professional information in FX & option areas of business importance. HSBC also provided an ‘option handbook’ to assist customers’ business operation.
