HSBC Korea was proud to sponsor The Korean Capital Markets Congress 2007. This prestigious event, which took place on May 14-15, 2007 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul, was organized by the UK-based Euromoney magazine, a leading publication of international finance, money and capital markets. The congress, which counted with the attendance of over 450 participants from more than 15 countries, opened formally with remarks by His Excellency Kwon Okyu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Korea. The keynote address was followed by a panel discussion titled “Korea and the World” in which Frederic Neumann, an economist from HSBC Asia Pacific, participated as a panelist. The discussion was then followed by a heated 45-minute workshop chaired by William Ross, Head of ABS and Structured Bond of HSBC Asia Pacific. Simon Cooper, CEO of HSBC Korea, delivered the luncheon address, and remarked “The financial industry can become Korea’s next growth engine.” The later half of the conference was marked by another panel session titled “Developing a World Class Capital Market” in which Park Beig-soo, CEO of HSBC Securities Korea, participated as panelist.
